傳統的 GNOME Classic 已經移除
Gnome 3.8 稱 新的模式 爲 Classic Mode
它是一組 extensions
每個 extension 模擬成 大家熟悉的 Gnome 2 個別組件
(具體的詳細 Classic Mode 的 extentions list 再補充)
每個 extension 相容於 Gnome Shell
可能可以使用 包含 gnome-tweak-tool 在內的 extensions 項目來微調

安裝 : Gnome Shell extentions
它是一組 extentions
可以單一 extention 安裝
也可以 好幾組 extentions 一同安裝

在 Ubuntu 13.04 你可以安裝 gnome-shell-extensions 套件
但是 需要先安裝 PPA 套件庫
溫馨提示 : 建議您 先備存 Ubuntu 系統分割區 以免 因相依問題需要回存

如何 登入/切換/離開/登出 Classic Mode :

從 登入畫面 選擇 Classic Mode
或
從 終端機
sudo gnome-shell --mode=classic -r # 切換到 Classic Mode
sudo gnome-shell -r # 切離開 Classic Mode

You can select GNOME Classic at login, or else switch to it with the command gnome-shell --mode=classic -r, reverting to GNOME 3 with gnome-shell -r. (In my experience, using the command can crash the desktop, but that might be the luck of the nightly release.)

先從終端機
4-0. 溫馨提示 先把 Ubuntu 系統 整個備存起來 再進行安裝 Gnome 3.8 (部分組件)
4-1. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
4-2. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3-staging
4-3. sudo apt-get update
4-4. sudo apt-get upgrade # 這個套件升級 範圍比較大 但是比較穩定
然後 重開機 從終端機
sudo dpkg -l | grep gnome
有許多 gnome 的 套件 (可能版本 不全部是 3.8)
4-5. 下面這個升級 範圍比較大 但是比較不穩定 請自行斟酌 是否進一步升級
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
然後 重開機 從終端機
sudo dpkg -l | grep gnome
有許多 gnome 的 套件 (可能版本 不全部是 3.8)
4-6. 如果你要安裝 extensions :
sudo apt-get install gnome gnome-shell gnome-shell-extensions
.......................................
4-7. 安裝 Gnome 3.8 部分組件 實作結果 :
經過 sudo apt-get dist-upgrade 後 目前只有 下面幾個 套件 已更新到 3.8 版本
sudo dpkg -l | grep gnome
