翻到138行，注释掉这句：

前面加 #

There are still many things to sep up (e.g. 速成 (?) sucheng5 input method) and other computers to fix, but I was really lost and I didn't find the solution anywhere I looked. The road ahead of me has suddenly cleared up. :)

I am truly touched that you spent so many hours of your time to especially install kubuntu, take screenshots, anotate them and do further research in order to help me. I am used to the linux camaraderie and the spirit of mutual help, but I have seldom if ever experienced being helped by someone who went to such great length in order to do so. I am truly grateful.

Kubuntu and ubuntu use the same sources, so the packages are the same. The problem here is that chewing didn't seem to work in a KDE environment. I'll push this issue upstream to the ibus developers.

Anyway, I agree that Chinese support could be improved in many ways. KDE should be much easier to set up and use by Chinese people.

Also, I installed Kubuntu using Chinese at the very beginning of the installation process. I think ibus and ibus-chewing should have been automatically installed and configured, so that upon booting, the user can see and type Chinese straight away, whether they use Gnome or KDE. I'll push this issue to the ubuntu/kubuntu developers, as well.

I'll post follow-ups here.

I had already found most of those links. Believe me: I never expected someone to spend so much time fixing my own problems. Before I signed up here, I searched the whole web and found most of the links you point to. I tried all the things they said, to no avail. As I couldn't find anything useful in English, the next logical step was to reach out to Chinese-speaking communities. By the time I asked here, I was pretty desperate for a solution that worked, because I had tried everything!

Edit (with vim) /usr/share/ibus/ui/gtk/panel.py and fix the bug there. That's all. All the rest was already properly configured and the right packages already installed.

On my current machine (Kubuntu 11.04) the font size still doesn't work, but thanks to you (originally, I forgot to select a Chinese font - the font selection dialog is misleading), it works on my friends' machine (11.11), so I can wait until I upgrade my own computer.

Still, beside the bugfix (panel.py), I think installing KDE for Taiwanese people should be easier. It should work out of the box, without any need for any configuration (at least when you install the OS in Chinese).

After further testing, it seems that editing panel.py is not even necessary. I was used to the character selection window to appear automatically but it seems that in the new version, one has to press the down-arrow key in order to bring it up.

Actually, everything seems to be working... the major problem being a lack of documentation, both in Chinese and in English. Also, no extra configuration should be necessary on a system installed in Chinese.
