檔案是學校內部製作的，使用 windows的 word 2000 + PDFcreator ......

有人會說，為什麼不用openoffice，因為學校給的課表範例擋在openoffice打開，格式會跑掉，所以才只能用word2000製作，然後又不想存成doc檔，所以用PDFcreator做成PDF

為什麼要特別提出來是因為，如果要在學校內部推廣ubuntu，只要PDF打開來是破碎，行政人員就會排斥，絕對不會使用......

Our genuine wish is that the developer team of Evince may solve these problems and let those newbies
read the pdf documents with Evince showing normal chinese charachters without needing any patch.

This is a real timetable used in our school last year.
It was documented with word 2000 and then transformed into PDF through PDFcreator by our colleague.
It became a big trouble to popularize the ubuntu OS in school because it will appear broken chinese charachters with Evince. All teachers and executive authorities should refuse to use these kinds of PDF documents.
It is also a strange experience that we can read normally with okular under ubuntu 9.10 or before. We are eager to know the reason why it appears broken from 10.04 and on.
We upload the PDF file as a detached file timetable.pdf as follows.
It will be marvelous if you may solve this harassed problem so that everyone, including the newbies,can read the PDF documents easily with Evince.

補充說明：
1.因一直沒接到 脫線大大 的 英文名, 所以 使用 漢字拼音 TuoXian, 不知 脫線大大 可會喜歡 ?
2.ftp://163.20.82.24/pub/other/98三年級課表.pdf 可能因 bugs.launchpad.net 的 貼文格式 不支持 中文, 所以按下載可能會出現錯誤. ( 所以以後如果還有機會要改爲英文）如果把 整個 URL copy 再 貼到瀏覽器 就 OK
但是我已另外上傳附檔。

能否得知貴校是用什麼字型輸入課表轉成PDF的？是不是微軟的細明體或標楷體。

Ubuntu 的 repository 有提供 Adobe reader.

adobe reader太笨重了，頁次往下拉時都會有點延遲，evince很輕，是一個不錯的選擇，就是偶爾會出現碎字，尤其是我在看經建會的國際經濟雙週報，前半段都OK，後半段是慘不忍睹。

中文字體破碎是因為內嵌特定字型未用 bytecode interpreter 繪製，所造成的問題。

FreeType2 2.4.0 之後，已經預設編譯時開啟 bytecode interpreter.但 FreeType2 現在應是選擇性開使用 bytecode interpreter 做 hinting，即盡量不用專利技術，但是那些不開會爛得字型則例外處理[2][3]。

問題就是 PDF 內嵌新細明體，但 Big5 字型名稱用 Ascii 編碼，結果 Freetype2 認不得字型類型，不知道該為此字用 BCI 做 hinting.

請參考前信引用 freedesktop mailing list, 解決問題的方式不難[4]，只是在決定再那一層解決。
