情況是這樣的，Packagekit 的翻譯在幾年前就完成了，但是最近打從 GNOME 升級為 3 代後，只要跳出來的認證視窗翻譯都無法載入。

就連「密碼：」這個部份都無法顯示。

我一開始以為這只是沒翻譯好，或是打包時沒包到 zh_TW.po，但一再確認後了解到其實翻譯都在翻譯檔內沒錯，只是無法顯現出來。

此外，後來發現 Packagekit 以外的認證視窗也受到影響，只要與「認證」有關都無法正常顯示中文翻譯。

為了確認不是個案，有 zh_CN 的使用者也測試過，與 zh_TW 情形相同，就是無法顯示翻譯。但奇怪的是，fr 的使用者完全正常，而 pa_IN 與 pt_BR 只有 Password: 不顯示翻譯。

經過一段時間的 爬文與實作 發現這一篇文章 所談到的 原因
最有可能 造成 Gnome 認證視窗無法顯示中文翻譯

1. Bug 596260 - Make authentication dialogs system-modal and improve wording/design

Applications that trigger the PolicyKit authentication dialog do not appear to be able to pass their window IDs to the dialog. This means the window manager may not place the authentication dialog in the correct location or give it focus.

Proposed solution:
Pass the window ID as a field in the PolkitDetails

2. 在 Comment 20 ：

This patch (if it's applied in Natty, as I suspect it is) causes authentication to fail because polkitd denies non-root to set details when checking authorizations

並且 引用 #685655
PolicyKit authentication error: Only trusted callers (e.g. uid 0) can use CheckAuthorization() and pass details

3. 所以 non-root 無法正常出現 如預期的 認證中文畫面

4. 如果上述 假設成立 那這個問題 出現 認證中文畫面 可能要等 這個 bug solution 出現
