As title, I installed SCIM from Ubuntu Software Center. And I found that im-switch has been replaced with im-config, I tried to recover them but failed. Now the input method is installed but "Ctrl + Space" doesn't work. Any idea?

Ibus is designed for the purpose to improve SCIM.
SCIM has been out-of-dated now.
Is there any special reason that you installed SCIM ?

im-switch now.

Otherwise you may install im-switch once again.
sudo apt-get install im-switch.

Ibus is the default input framwork.
It is always there if not removed by anyone.

Type im-switch from the terminal will help you choose ibus once again.

To try something new. How to get back to the default input method settings?
Uninstalling SCIM and im-config and install back im-switch can't save my mistake.
I have reinstalled im-switch again but still no response. I have tried to set up the default settings as ibus but no response.

Try
1. sudo apt-get install im-switch ibus
2. im-switch # choose default ibus
3. logout and login again

If any error messages, copy all and paste them here.

No any error messages. Still can't work. But I found out that the parameters inside /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/default are blank. Or it doesn't start when booting or logging in. I don't know how to check them.

Try to describe what packages have been removed just now.

Removed packages: SCIM, gcin, im-config
Reinstall package: im-switch

try
sudo apt-get install --reinstall language-selector
ibus-setup # set your input method
im-switch # choose default ibus
sudo reboot

IBUS doesn't automatically start at the time logging in, so it still can't work. I have to manually start it. Every time I start it, it seems to reinstate default.

IBUS never starts either login or reboot. Should I edit something in the booting files?
