Intel Releases Linux Graphics Drivers Installer

Intel has released a tool that allows Linux users to easily install the latest graphics drivers to ensure the best user experience with Intel graphics hardware.

32 bits 的使用者可以放心 安裝在 Ubuntu (12.04 及 12.10)
64 bits 的使用者 再緩緩 因爲可能有套件相依問題 未妥善處理 會出現錯誤訊息

下載金鑰及installer安裝包後
安裝intel-linux-graphic-installer
執行intel-linux-graphic-installer

錯誤訊息：
Package libdrm-radeon1:i386 cannot be removed

在終端機更新
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade //這個指令下了之後就可以看到libdrm-radeon1:i386會被移除
跑完之後再執行一次intel-linux-graphic-installer
安裝完後會需要重新開機

非桌上型電腦系統不一定適用此驅動
另外可能有其他非 intel 顯示介面作用中

DELL Vostro 2420 i3-3110M配的是雞肋GT-610M
我也不確定到底獨顯有沒有開工過
人在南非，筆電在台灣
要確認也要下禮拜了，不過印象中系統設定是有Nvidia的驅動

其他intel搭獨顯的筆電要試的話
可以先到BIOS設定啟動時只開內顯

2-1. 你的電腦 含有的 Intel 顯卡 型號 不是 i8xx and i9xx 系列

2-2. 或者 你的電腦 含有的是 i8xx and i9xx 系列 但是 你希望獲得更好的 支援

2-3-4. Installer for Ubuntu 12.10 - 64 bits
2-3-5. 下載後 安裝
按 ctrl + alt + F1 # 進 tty1
輸入 帳號/密碼
sudo stop lightdm # 如果你是使用 lightdm 桌面管理程式
cd 儲存下載檔案的目錄
sudo dpkg -i 下載檔案的名稱.deb
sudo reboot

如果你 下載 Intel Linux Graphics Installer 並安裝 Intel Linux Graphics Driver 後 想移除

1. 執行下面的 script 檔案
curl http://theclonker.de/remove-intel-driver.sh | /bin/sh

或者
2. 一步一步 按下面的 步驟 移除

2-1. 打開終端機 (CTRL+Alt+T) 然後 執行

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/preferences.d/intel-removal

2-2. 把 下面 內容 copy / 貼上 儲存

Pin: release a=quantal* # 如果 是 12.04 換成 precise*
Pin-Priority: 1001

Package: *
Pin: origin download.01.org
Pin-Priority: -100

2-3. 執行

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

2-4. 清理:

sudo rm /etc/apt/preferences.d/intel-removal
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/intellinuxgraphics.list*
sudo apt-get update

2-5. 移除 下載的驅動安裝程式 !

sudo apt-get purge i915-3.6-3.5-dkms intel-linux-graphics-installer

2. 下載 套件庫 GPG 金鑰

2-1. 安裝 套件庫 GPG 金鑰
sudo apt-key add /tmp/intelrepo.key

3. 更新電腦內的 套件來源明細
sudo apt-get update

4. 更新電腦內的 套件 (包含 Intel Linux Graphics Drivers 在內)
sudo apt-get upgrade

或
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade # 如果 發現 會移除 某些 套件 請先 選 No 看看 要移除哪些套件 會不會 影響系統穩定 再決定 是否使用 dist-upgrade
