大家好，小弟最近買了台atom n2800的機器，安裝ubuntu後找不出驅動程式，也google過，好像只有meego有驅動程式，但我的機器又裝不了meego，請問有辦法移植嗎？

網路上目前能找到的似乎只有kernel3.3有實驗性質支援。
還有MeeGo這套distro有閉源的驅動。

而kernel 3.3這個我個人試著編譯，加了以下設定在.config裡面：
CONFIG_DRM_GMA500=m
CONFIG_DRM_GMA3600=y
# CONFIG_DRM_GMA600 is not set
# CONFIG_STUB_POULSBO is not set

編譯完，在ubuntu 12.04 beta2裡面還是一樣。

最高解析度只有1280x1024。<- 2.6.32、3.2的kernel也一樣

有人有成功在kernel 3.3底下正確驅動GMA 3600的嗎？

所以 猜測其硬體本身 就沒說支援 3D 加速

2. 在 ubuntu 大部分 intel 的集成晶片都是 安裝時 就預設使用xserver-xorg-video-intel 套件來驅動
所以 驅動沒問題
但是 不支援 3D 加速 ＃ 因硬體本身 就不支援 3D 加速

因此 無法 進入 gnome shell 及 ubuntu (unity 3D) 桌面
縱使登入了 也會自動退回 gnome classic 及 ubuntu 2D (unity 2D)

嗯，不過GMA3600是intel跟powerVR買來的？
用的是powerVR的SGX545晶片組，跟intel GMA500是好兄弟(SGX535)
xserver-xorg-video-intel，你給的網頁第一行就註明：

"Please note that this driver does not support the GMA 500"

我想也是因為非出自真正老爸intel之手的關係吧？
所以我的顯示驅動一直是vesa，而且我想是因為沒有正確驅動framebuffer的原因，
解析度一直無法上到1920x1080。

我想GMA3600是有3D加速功能的，不然ARM不會推MAIL架構想跟他打對台。

直接在xorg.conf把Virual設超過，顯示就直接花掉了。

目前在ubuntu 12.04下我只有成功進入xfce，我猜lxde大概也可以，unity或gnome我試了不行。

The Intel SCH (System Controller Hub; codenamed Poulsbo) for the Atom processor Z5xx series features a GMA 500 graphic system. Rather than being developed in-house, this core is a PowerVR SGX 535 core licensed from Imagination Technologies.[25]
Intel describes this as "a flexible, programmable architecture that supports shader-based technology, 2D, 3D and advanced 3D graphics, high-definition video decode, and image processing. Features include screen tiling, internal true color processing, zero overhead anti-aliasing, programmable shader 3D accelerator, and 32-bit floating-point operations."[26] The available Linux drivers do not support much of this.

GMA 500 support on Linux is not optimal. The driver is developed by Tungsten Graphics, not by Intel, and the graphic core is not an Intel one, but is licensed from PowerVR. This has led to an uncertain mix of open and closed source 3d accelerated drivers, instability and lack of support.

In November 2009, the Linux Foundation released the details of a new, rewritten Linux driver that would support this chipset and Intel's other upcoming chipsets. The Direct Rendering Manager and X.org parts would be free software, but the 3D component (using Gallium3D) will still be proprietary.

裏面也沒有提到對 3D 加速的支援

到現在試了很久，目前只有一個辦法可以讓解析度再往上。

kernel 3.3.1(3.2 跟 2.6都不行)，啟動參數加上vga=XXX(隨你選，我選884)

後面boot開機的時候，會開framebuffer，不過我給的884似乎它不吃，

會要你重選，選了一個1600x1200之後，就進console了(你可以很明顯感覺解析度

在這裡已經變了)，之後修改xorg.conf，把driver從vesa換成fbdev。

然後startx，解析度就上到了1600x1200。(再見，1280x1024！)

爬了一整天的google，似乎framebuffer的大小是固定的，也就是說，boot完

除了這個1600x1200的解析度之外，都不能變換。說實在的，這比vesa還慘，

雖然vesa的解析度只有四個，但至少我還可以用xrandr隨時換解析度。

雖然我知道問這個是多餘，但是我還是想問，有方法在驅動是fbdev底下換解析度嗎？

這幾天測試下來，幾乎沒有一種是可以有效解決顯示驅動的方法。

所以我在極度失望的情形下，安裝了meego。

我必須說，它有效！我的解析度可以從1024*576 一路到 1920x1080，

很奇怪，反倒是無法往下(800x600跟640x480)。

稍為瞄了一下他的驅動跟kernel。驅動跟ubuntu launchpad上面丟出來給人家試

的一樣。不過在ubuntu12.04底下沒用，我試過了。

kernel是3.0.0-4.1-adaptation-pc，應該是intel他們自己patch過的。

我應該暫時會先不管license的問題，想辦法先把他的kernel跟driver弄到

ubuntu上直到可以跑為止。

如果有人的小筆電是atom cedar trail要裝linux的話，直接灌meego也是一種選

擇。UI給人感覺滿舒服的，我甚至一開始還有一種我的電腦變平板的錯覺...

感謝辛苦的測試，請教您用的小筆電的型號，我的Gigabyte S1081沒辦法安裝meego，連要試用都無法載入，看來還是乖乖的用E450等22nm 的atom了。

我這邊用的是公司的工程版本，嗯，只能說cpu型號是atom N2800。

不過您說"無法載入"的意思是？因為他的iso檔大於700M，所以它網站

上的教學都是要你放進usb後再用usb灌。

但是meego它上面的教學都有點舊了。

例如linux它介紹用dd,Windows用win32-image-writer，

但我試了都不行，用dd完成的usb在boot時根本讀不到，會直接進原本硬碟的系統，

我最後是在xp下用Unetbootin把iso放進usb後面才成功的。
