Canonical官方將在Kubuntu 12.04發行後停止金援此一發行版
理由是，


Jonathan Riddell：「Kubuntu has not been a business success after 7 years of trying」 he says, arguing that on this basis 「it is unrealistic to expect [Kubuntu] to continue to have financial resources put into it.」

【翻譯】「經過的七年的嘗試，Kubuntu依然無法得到商業上的成功」他說
「為了Kubuntu的延續而把資金給予kubuntu是不切實際的」

不過，Canonical還是會提供除了錢之外的基本支援
爾後Kubuntu會像是變成Xbuntu Lubuntu Edubuntu等發行版那樣，會給予如套件等資金除外的基本支援。
並且KDE/Kubntu社群會因為這次的巨變而進行些許調整，以確保Kubuntu能長久 穩定之存在。
